Fred J. Palillo, 81, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away after a brief illness on Saturday December 10, 2011 while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Joseph and Carmella ‘Nellie’ (Curcio) Palillo, Sr. He married Irene (Rufran) Greene on August 1, 1980 and she predeceased him on August 14, 1998.
Fred was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1949. Fred was employed as a firefighter for the City of Niagara Falls where he enjoyed cooking for all the firemen until he retired in 1981 after twenty years of service. In addition to being a firefighter, Fred also sold cars and sightseeing tours for many years.
Mr. Palillo is survived by five children Christine Bruno (Joseph D’Angelo), Lori (Daniel) Volpe both of Niagara Falls, NY; Mary Jo (Michael) DiFrancesco of Lewiston, NY; Tammy (Robert) Nicholas of North Tonawanda, NY and Dana (Joanne) Greene of Syracuse, NY; eleven grandchildren, one sister Patricia (late Premo) Rizzo of Niagara Falls, NY; one brother John (Phyllis) Palillo of Niagara Falls, NY and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers Jacob A. Palillo, former mayor of Niagara Falls, NY and Joseph Palillo, Jr.
There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service with Military Honors on Thursday December 15th at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery, 3801 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane R.
