Frances B. Simone, of Niagara Falls NY, passed away on Saturday April 28, 2012 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Frank and Domenica (Papotto) Sgro.
Frances was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On August 2, 1958 she married Leo D. Simone. Mr. Simone predeceased her on October 25, 1986. For many years, Frances worked as a waitress at various local restaurants including the former Frank’s Luncheonette in Niagara Falls, and also worked as a waitress in Lake George, NY. She was later employed by Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center where she worked in their Dietary Department and Corner Shop until her retirement. Frances was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America (I.S.D.A.) Volare Lodge and longtime time member of Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish, both in Niagara Falls. Frances loved socializing with family and friends. Everywhere she went; she would make a new friend, and regardless of their name, would refer to them as either ‘Charlie’ or ‘Rosie’.
Mrs. Simone is survived by her daughter, JoAnne C. (Joseph) Mang of Niagara Falls, NY; one brother Joseph (Sue Kneeppel) Sgro of Jamestown, NY; her sister-in-law, Celia Granto of Niagara Falls, NY; her constant companion Baby Hasek and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and very special friends. Frances was also predeceased by two sisters and two brothers, Pauline (late Anthony) Colosi, John (late Mafalda) Sgro, Nicholas (late Evelyn) Sgro and Nellie (late Anthony) Ruffolo.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Thursday May 3rd at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Entombment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Flowers are gratefully declined.
