Mamie P. Coleman

Mamie P. Coleman, 84, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Saturday April 28, 2012 at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Dozier, AL she was the daughter of the late Harriett (Grimes) Carter and Aubrey (Essie) Carter. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie Coleman.

Mamie formerly owned and operated a restaurant on East Falls Street and later worked at Hills Restaurant both in Niagara Falls, NY. In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching Total Christian television and reading, particularly the Bible. She also liked playing Bingo and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mamie was affectionately known to those close to her as Aunt Hannah and will be remembered as a kind hearted, sweet and generous lady who was always there to help others.

Mamie is survived by four children Billy Coleman, Bobby (late Robin) Coleman both of Niagara Falls, NY; Willie (Joann) Coleman of Buffalo, NY and Doreen Coleman of Niagara Falls, NY; grandchildren Khadijah Hamilton, Chanel Hilson and Jetyra Perry as well as a host of many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters Edna Gamble of Niagara Falls, NY; Carrie Harris of Atlanta, GA and Margaret Carter of Buffalo, NY; two brothers Raybon (Mavis) Carter of Niagara Falls, NY; Samuel (Monica) Carter of Charlotte, NC and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers A.C. Carter, Eugene Carter and Houston Carter and sisters Jessie Bell Carter, Elouise Carter, Katherine Finklea, Aubrey Lee Finklea, Dixie Davis and Operee Jones.

Visitation will be on Friday May 4th from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at New Jerusalem, 2723- 20th Street, Niagara Falls, NY where funeral services will follow with Bishop Joseph Brinson officiating and Host Pastor Bishop Samuel Rankins. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Arrangements by M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS NY.
