James Norris Miller

U.S. Veteran

James Norris Miller, 87, of Sanborn, NY passed away on Sunday July 8, 2012 at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Henry R. and Florence (Delloge) Miller.

James was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area and attended local schools. During World War II he served in the United States Army from July 29, 1943 until his honorable discharge on March 25, 1946. He was involved in the campaigns of Central Europe and Rhineland, and was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. In 1958 he married Ruby R. (Rowe) Miller and was predeceased by her on March 5, 2000.

James worked as a plumber at the National Automatic Sprinkler Industry and installed and serviced commercial sprinkler systems throughout Western New York. James was a member of the American Legion Post 1451 in Wheatfield, NY and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in North Tonawanda, NY. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Miller is survived by his step daughter Sherry Ashbury of Victoria, British Colombia, Canada; three brothers, Donald (Betty) Miller of Niagara Falls, NY; Marvin (late May) Miller of Margate, FL and Gordon (Barbara) Miller of Dallas, TX; his sister-in-law Joann Newell, his nieces and nephews, Linda (Evan) Williams, John (Kathy) Miller, Terry (Gavin) Atkinson, Lisa Miller, Denise (Mark) Davis, Mark Miller, Kevin Miller, Marie (Chris) Reggio, Karen Miller (Dan Leary), Christine Miller, his dear friend Rita Miljour and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by one brother Howard (Kathleen of Wellesley, MA) Miller and one niece Jayne Miller.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held on Thursday July 12th at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Mt. View Cemetery, Cambria NY with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, 1040 Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls, NY 14304 or to a charity of one’s choice.
