Ada (Flori) Casilio, 100 years of age, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at her residence in Niagara Falls, NY.  Ada was born in 1922 in Prata d'Ansidonia, Abruzzo, Italy, to the late Arturo and Barbara (DiFabio) Flori.

Ada married the late Giovanni Casilio in 1941 and had six children.  Ada loved reading her bible and was devoted to St. Anthony.  She had a deep faith and remained active as a member of St. Joseph Church until her passing.

On June 13, 1954, at 32 years of age, Ada left her husband, Giovanni, and her two sons, Antonio and Arturo, to make the long journey by boat from Italy to the United States arriving after 11 days at sea. She made this long journey alone, ultimately arriving in Niagara Falls, NY.  Ada waited three months to be reunited with her husband and children so they could create a new life in the United States.  She was married to her husband, Giovanni, for 46 years before his passing in 1987.

Ada was known for her pizzelles and loved celebrating Italian traditions, especially with her grandchildren.  She loved gardening and up until almost the last she was making her homemade sauce – which was the best.  She especially loved Christmas Eve when she would be surrounded by her family.

Ada is survived by five of her children, Antonio (Denise), Arturo (Joanne), Roseann, Roberto (Laurie) and John (Terri); her ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Giovanni, her son Dominic, her brothers Dino and Silvio and her sister Eiole Figurelli.

The family would like to extend its appreciation to Landmark Health Services and the wonderful nurses that helped keep our mother at home. The family would also like to extend its thanks and appreciation to Niagara Hospice for their support in helping make her last days comfortable and peaceful.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 31 from 1 – 5 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will begin on Monday at 9:15 AM followed by Ada's Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301.  Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/donate/ .  Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
