Adolphine "Del" (Rizzo) Mastrolembo, 92, of Wheatfield, NY passed on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Central City, PA she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Lena (Barrecca) Rizzo.
Del, as she was known to family and friends, was raised in Windber, PA, where many of her relatives still reside, and attended Central City, PA schools. She later attended the Hammond School of Beauty in Pennsylvania and became an owner and operator of a beauty shoppe in Windber, PA. On September 26, 1942 she married Anthony C. Mastrolembo in Central City, PA and in 1945 they came to the Niagara Falls area where she lived until the present time. Mr. Mastrolembo predeceased her on March 5, 1994. Del was employed as an office manager and treasurer of the credit union for DuPont Chemical in Niagara Falls and retired in 1985 after twenty five years of service. She also served as the secretary and treasurer of the Niagara Falls District Credit Unions which included approximately fifty two area credit unions.
Del was a devout Catholic and longtime faithful member of the St. Vincent De Paul Parish at St. Leo's Church in Niagara Falls; and a member of the Bishop's Committee at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church also located in Niagara Falls. She was a lifetime member of the Auxiliary of the Disabled American Veterans and also served on as the secretary treasurer of the Tall Oaks Home Owners Association. Most important to Del was her family who she especially enjoyed spending time with.
Mrs. Mastrolembo is survived by two children Linda (Edward) Stamborski of Largo, FL; Anthony J. (LuAnn) Mastrolembo of Lewiston, NY and was predeceased by one daughter Linda Ann Mastrolembo. She is also survived by five grandchildren Frank (Renee) Granto, Mark Granto, Christina (Christopher) Taylor, Lisa (Matthew) Wilkinson and Tara (Jeremy) Bucchi; seven great grandchildren Frank, Kara, Carter, Capri, Brady, Ethan and Blake; two great-great grandchildren; eight siblings, Angelo (late Rose) Rizzo, Lena (John) Scrivani all of Niagara Falls, NY; Frances (late Stanley) Koshinski of the Town of Niagara, Verna (late Biagio) Grossi, Mary Ann (late Douglas) Pike both of Niagara Falls, NY; Dominic (Gilda) Rizzo of Niagara Falls, NY; Selma (late Hamish) Hamilton of Niagara Falls, NY and Joseph (Maria) Rizzo of Lewiston, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by four brothers and one sister, Anthony (late Thelma) Rizzo, Samuel Rizzo, Nancy (late Dominic) Farbo and infants Savierio Rizzo and Adolph Rizzo.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 19th at 10:30 A.M. in St. Vincent DePaul at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Robert Stolinski officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
