Albert R. Mangel, 87, of Lewiston, NY died on Tuesday July 27, 2010 at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, NY. Born in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late William and Laura Ellen Mangel.
Albie, as he was known to family and friends, came to the Niagara Falls area as a child and attended local schools. During World War II he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Europe. He was employed as a millwright at DuPont in Niagara Falls, NY and retired in 1967. He also owned and managed various properties in the Niagara Falls area for over sixty years. On June 27, 1967 he married Ursula (McDermott) Mangel in Niagara Falls, NY. Albie was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 346, the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club, and was a member and served on the board at the American Legion Portage Post 1465 and the Buff Social Club.
In addition to his wife of forty three years, Mr. Mangel is survived by two children John (Carol) Manzell of Niagara Falls, NY and Patricia (Robert) Seip of Florida; four grandchildren Kim (Paul) Nesi, Kelli (Dan) Kneepple, James (Jackie) Callari and Jolene (Brian) Kimble, two great grandsons Britt and Daniel John and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be on Friday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where services will be held on Saturday July 31st at 11 a.m. with Rev. Matthew Kofahl officiating. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
