Al "Nouch" Antonucci, 65, completed his mission on earth the evening of June 13, 2014. Surrounded by his children, he left the arms of his treasured wife and soul mate to live in peace in the beauty of Heaven.
Son of the late Jane and Albert "Funt" Antonucci, he was born and raised in Niagara Falls. Al and Sharon (Guetta) married on July 25, 1992, though it seemed as though they were together all of their lives.
Al attended Trott Vocational high school. He retired from Occidental Chemical after 44 years working as an instrument technician.
He served our country and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War era. Al was an accomplished mechanic and enjoyed restoring and painting classic and muscle cars. His dream car was a 57 Chevy Bel Air ragtop, though he settled for a hard top 57 Chevy. In his younger days he raced at the old Niagara Drag Strip, winning a trophy for a class C-Sport. Al was an avid NASCAR fan and devoted fan of the Buffalo Bills.
Al was a skilled bowler, as was his father before him and son Albert that followed. He played drums in "garage" bands in his younger days and was proud that his son Albert chose the drum as well.
He enjoyed tent camping and he and his wife spent many summers camping at Watkins Glenn and weathering two Tornados while camped in the Thousand Islands. He enjoyed spending time on his front porch socializing with neighbors. Affectionately referred to as the "the Godfather" of the neighborhood, Al was protective and attuned to anything out of the ordinary. He took pleasure in watching his granddaughter Courtney successfully compete in figure skating and his nephews rise through little league.
Al was a wonderful husband and loved Sharon unwaveringly, a love she cherished and returned. In addition to his wife he is survived by his sister Barbara Forgione of NF, his four children, Donna, Karen, Albert and Anthony Antonucci, his stepson Derrick (Melissa) Deyo and seven grandchildren, Tyira Place, Casey Penbelton, Sierra, Krista, Albert and Tyler Antonucci and Poppy to Courtney Deyo. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved Aunts and Uncles and Godson Tommy Guetta. He leaves them all with his love.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 18th from 4-8 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday June 19th at 11:00 a.m. at St Vincent DePaul Parish at Prince of Peace Church 1055 North Military Road Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Robert Stolinski officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Lewiston, NY with Military honors. In lieu of flowers Sharon asks that friends honor Al's kind, generous and protective nature by performing random acts of kindness, helping one in need and showing love and support for their neighbors, friends and family. He will be strongly missed but his love will live on through these acts.
