Albert J. Giambattista, 93, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on November 11, 2021 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY, after a brief illness.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Angelina (Mancini) Giambattista.

Al attended local schools, graduating from Trott Vocational High School.  On May 22. 1954, he married Audrey E. (Johns) Giambattista at St. Joseph Church.  Mrs. Giambattista predeceased him on April 3, 2007.  In the 1970s, he and his wife operated Mr. T's Liquor Store on Niagara Falls Boulevard.  Al was a lifelong carpenter with Carpenter's Local 280, in which he served a four-year apprenticeship from 1945 to 1949.  Al started playing the saxophone in at the age of 14 in the Gaskill Junior High School and the Trott Vocational High School Band.  He also played with John J. Welch American Legion Band of Doctor Eddie D'Anna and the Niagara Falls Concert Band under Professor Louis Altieri.  Al played many weddings, local dances, and local clubs.

He entered the Army in October of 1955 and was accepted in the Band Training Unit at Fort Dix, NJ.  Upon graduation from the Band Training Unit, he was promoted to Specialist 4 ^th Class and was sent to play with the 324 ^th Army Band at Aberdeen, MD, and was honorably discharged in October of 1957.  He was a longtime former member of the Niagara Falls Musicians Local 106, and played with Sikora Post Band, the Sanborn Fire Company Band, and the Sugar and Jazz Dance Band.

Al is survived by his daughter, Donna (Tim Maroni) Giambattista; his grandchildren, Frank J. (Tina) Giambattista, Anthony M. (Abigail) Giambattista, and Kaytelynn E. (Jeff) Alsup; his great-grandchildren, Madison E. Giambattista, Emery M. Alsup, Quill G. Alsup and AJ Teardo; his brother Armand (late Carmella) Giambattista, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his wife of 52 years, he was predeceased by his son, Frank J. Giambattista, and his sister, Jessie (late Mario) Centofanti.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 16 from 10 – 1 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, followed by entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
