Albert T. "Shorty" Balluzzo, 77, of Parrish, FL, formerly of Niagara Falls, N.Y. died on Wednesday October 27, 2010 at Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care in Bradenton, FL. Born in Niagara Falls, N.Y. he was the son of the late Frank and Lena (Midulla) Balluzzo. He was predeceased by his first wife Marguerite (Henry) Balluzzo in November 1982. In 1985 he married Elizabeth "Betty" (Diebold) Balluzzo.
"Shorty" as he was known by to his insurance clients and friends attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army as a Medic. He worked as an insurance sales agent representing the Prudential and Metropolitan Insurance companies serving the Niagara County Community for over 25 years and retired in 1989. Following his retirement he and his wife relocated to Virginia Beach until moving to Florida in 2000 where he currently resided. In his leisure time he enjoyed woodworking projects and while living in Niagara Falls he liked regularly hanging out with his friends at Mom's Restaurant. He also enjoyed gaming, particularly cards, betting on the horses and going to the casino.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Balluzzo is survived by six children Shawn (Terri) Balluzzo of Virginia, Rebecca (Clyde) Lewis and Daniel T. (Tracy) Balluzzo both of North Carolina, Lisa (Stanley) Grudzinski of Cheektowaga, Gerald (Barbara) Pompeo of Tonawanda and Belinda (Robert) Johnston of Florida, seventeen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. One brother Samual Balluzzo and three sisters Mary Molinaro, Millicent Rotella, and Josephine Muhlbauer predeceased him.
Friends may call on Monday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON FUNERAL CHAPEL, 468 19th STREET, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday November 2 at 10:00 AM in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay O.S.F.S officiating. Everyone please assemble at church.Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
