Obituary

Alfred A. Marchesani, 81, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Saturday January 19, 2013 at his residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Nicholas and Josephine (Greco) Marchesani.

Alfred was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. He was employed by the City of Niagara Falls for thirty two years. Freddy, as he was also known by his family, was an active member of the John Duke Center and a longtime member of the former Sacred Heart Church both in Niagara Falls, NY. At one time, he was an avid supporter of the former minor league baseball team the Niagara Falls Pirates. Freddy loved travelling and enjoyed many trips to California and Toronto, Canada. Although he was never married nor had children of his own, Alfred was very close with his sister Esther and brother-in-law John as well as his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and especially liked frequent family gatherings.

Alfred is survived by one sister Esther (John) Runca of Lewiston, NY; his nieces and nephews Eugene (Shannon) Runca, Diane (Robert) Smith both of California, Linda (Tom) Johnson of Lewiston, NY; John Runca Jr. of Tennessee, Lisa Boulden of Grand Island, NY; Mark Runca of Williamsville, NY and was predeceased by one nephew Michael Runca; his great nieces and great nephews Ryan Runca, Derek and Maressa Smith, Andrew, Keven and Janelle Johnson, Christopher and Diana Boulden, two aunts and two uncles in Canada and several cousins.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday January 24th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Donations in Alfred's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
