Obituary

Alfred D. Perri, 88, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully on August 31st at home, surrounded by family. He was the son of the late Guiseppe and Filomena (Mirabelli) Perri. Alfred was known to many as "Al" or "Fred". He was born in Niagara Falls, NY and a lifelong resident of the city.

Fred met the love of his life, Joan Marie Henning in 1958, and was married in 1963 for 48 wonderful years until her passing in 2011. They were constant companions (except when she was going to garage sales). He missed her every day after her passing.

Al was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School in 1955 and a graduate of ECTI (Erie County Technical Institute) in 1957 earning an associate degree in Mechanical Technology. He was employed at Great Lakes Carbon Corporation for 42 years where he worked his way up to Supervisor of the Process Development group and retired in 1999.

Al was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1959 and served until 1962. He was an SP4 and was stationed in West Germany serving as a Message Center Chief at the U.S. Army School, in Europe. He was awarded the U.S. Army Commendation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal for his service.

Al is survived by his son, Michael, NFFD (fiancé Wendy), and his granddaughter, Luciana, of Niagara Falls, NY. He is also survived by his brother Joseph, of Niagara Falls, NY, and three nephews; Nicholas (Kathy), Frank, and Paul Perri of Las Vegas, NV, Nephew, Stephen (Mafe) of Liverpool, NY and Christine McClure of Niagara Falls, NY. Also surviving are three grand-nieces and two great-grand nephews, as well as several cousins. His "second son" and friend, Randy Graff, The Cipolla and Fisher Families, Long-time family friends the Tecchio, Zelonis, and Baldwin families. And of course, the Evergreen Floral girls, who always made sure they had Joanie's rose waiting for him on Saturday. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother; Frank and Nicholas, and his sister, Theresa (Perri) Maclean.

Visitation will be Friday, September 6 from 3 – 8 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin Saturday at 9:15 AM, followed by Alfred's Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. John de LaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Ave, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Entombment in St. Joseph's Cemetery will be held privately. In lieu of flowers; memorial offerings may be made to the Niagara Falls Firefighters Christmas Toy Fund, Niagara Hospice Inc., or Niagara County SPCA.
