Alice M. (Vrenegor) Scalzo, 86, of the Town of Niagara, NY passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Northgate Manor in Wheatfield, NY while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Magdalen (Lochner) Vrenegor.

Alice was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and attended local schools. In 1944 she married Anselmo S. Scalzo in Niagara Falls, NY. Alice was employed by Mt. St. Mary's Hospital for twelve years and worked in their Housekeeping Department until her retirement. She was a wonderful cook and baker who loved cooking meals for her family, particularly on Sundays. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting and spending time at the family cottage on the lake. Above all, Alice loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and adored her puppy Bella.

In addition to her husband, Alice is survived by her six children, Joseph (Marisa) Scalzo of Ransomville, NY; Thomas (Barbara Murgia) Scalzo, Jonathan (Lisa) Scalzo, James (Lisa) Scalzo, Cynthia (Edward) Adamczyk, Jr. all of the Town of Niagara, NY and Robert (Sandra) Scalzo of Sanborn, NY; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one sister Marge (Robert) Nesbitt of Hastings, NY; one sister-in-law Anne Sbarbati and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by two brothers, James (Mary Jane of the Town of Niagara) Vrenegor, Paul Vrenegor and one sister Dolores (late Norm) Kromer.

Mrs. Scazlo's family would like extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Hospice at Jeanne's House – Northgate Manor, for all of their kindness, compassion and care.

There will be no prior visitation. Private funeral services and entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
