Alvin T. McDonald, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on August 11, 2024 at his residence under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late John 'Jack' E. and Addie M. (Lajoie) McDonald.
Al was a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School. He retired from Harrison Radiator/General Motors in Lockport, NY, and also worked at Niagara-Wheatfield School District, MacDonald White House Dairy, and at several other businesses. Al enjoyed bowling, coin collecting, watching Buffalo Bills and Sabres games, NASCAR, and old movies – especially Svengoolie on Saturday evenings.
Al is survived by his children, Thomas (Carolyn) McDonald, Donna Dwyer, Mark (Chris) McDonald, Barbara Brusino (late Robert Raczka), Michael McDonald, and Jackie (Kevin) Bryans; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews to whom he was always affectionately known as "Uncle Al the Kiddies Pal". In addition to his wife of 53 years, Carol (Robillard) McDonald, who predeceased him on July 22, 2009, Al was preceded in death by his brother, John A. (late Anna) McDonald and sister, Mary Mullaney.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 23 from 4 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304. Al's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday August 24 at 11 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Private entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY will be held for the family. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, https://www.niagarahospice.org/donate/.
