Obituary

Americo "Bunky" B. Curcione, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Tuesday June 22, 2010 at N.F. Memorial Medical Center. Born in North Bay, Ontario, Canada he was the son of the late Luigi and Frances (Domanico) Curcione.

Bunky, as he was known to family and friends, came to Niagara Falls, NY as a baby with his family. He attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Machinist from October 15, 1942 until his honorable discharge on February 10, 1945. On December 3, 1949 he married Carmela (Falbo) Curcione in Pennsylvania. Bunky was employed as a machinist at the former Oldbury Electrochemical Co. in Niagara Falls, NY and retired in 1968 after thirty years of service. He also volunteered at the Niagara Falls Boy's Club and as a bowling instructor. He was a member of the American Legion Frederick F. Cadille Post 1664 in Niagara Falls, NY. An avid bowler, Bunky played in four bowling leagues and one travel league. He appeared many times on the former "Beat The Champ" television show and won dozens of tournaments he competed in. Bunky also had a passion for golf and faithfully completed eighteen holes daily, and was proud to have aced two holes in one throughout his lifetime. Bunky also enjoyed portrait drawing and while in the service he developed a love of airplanes and aviation. But most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.

In addition to his wife of sixty years, Mr. Curcione is survived by two sons Fred (Kathy) Curcione of the Town of Niagara and Paul (Sharlene) Curcione of Lawrenceville, GA; five grandchildren Paul (Holly) Curcione, Matthew (Jen) Curcione, Timothy (fiancé Kristy) Curcione, Mary (Justin) Winstel and Brittany Curcione, four great grandchildren, two sisters Yolanda Curcione of Niagara Falls, NY; Margaret (late Russell) Certo of the Town of Niagara; one brother Arthur (Frances) Curcione of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother Fred (late Esther) Curcione and two sisters Lena (late Frank) Coney and Stella Gautier.

Visitation will be on Monday June 28th from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where services with will follow at 12 noon with Rev. Robert Hughson, officiating. Entombment with military honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Flowers are gratefully declined.
