Andrew Grinnen, 88, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in DuBois, PA he was the son of the late Frederick and Mary (Cowie) Grinnen.

Andrew attended school in Pennsylvania and moved to Niagara Falls with his family at the age of fifteen. He served in the United States Navy during World War II until his honorable discharge on June 12, 1946. On January 4, 1953 he married Ameta P. (Thomas) Grinnen in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Grinnen predeceased him on August 13, 2006. Andrew was employed for forty years at the former Prestolite Company in Niagara Falls. Andrew was an avid sports fan his entire life. He played football as a youth and later on softball in the local Niagara Falls factory leagues. He was also a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and Niagara University athletics. Above all, Andrew will be remembered for his devotion to his family.

Mr. Grinnen is survived by his three children, Calvin (Cheryl) Grinnen of Cheektowaga, NY; Donna (Duane) Keiper of Niagara Falls, NY and Carol (Robert) Price of North Tonawanda, NY; seven grandchildren, Kathryn (Jeffrey) Calloway, Karen Grinnen, Andrew Grinnen, Laura (Mark) Marek, Kory (Michelle) Keiper, Dana (John) Nolan and Mathew (Jennifer Barone) Keiper; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister Norma (Ronald) Brown of Chicago, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by three brothers and one sister, Frederick (late Grace) Grinnen, Irvin (late Ollie) Grinnen, Susan (late Edward) Borgeson and Calvin (late Ellen) Grinnen.

Visitation will be on Friday December 5th from 6 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY, concluding with a prayer service. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston NY at the convenience of the family.
