Andrew S. "Andy" Hughes, 42, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away Saturday July 30, 2011 at his Niagara Falls residence surrounded by his family. Born in Niagara Falls he was the son of Elaine M. (Promowicz) Hughes of Niagara Falls, NY and the late Steven H. Hughes who predeceased him in 1993.

Andy attended local schools and graduated from Starpoint Central High School in 1987. He worked as a truck driver for Modern Disposal in Lewiston, NY. Andy was an avid car enthusiast, who enjoyed racing and showing vintage Ford Mustangs.

In addition to his mother, Andy is survived by his son Andrew S. Hughes, his sister Amy Spendio of North Tonawanda, NY, and his former wife Melissa Hughes. Andy was the nephew of Jon Hughes, David Hughes, and Marcia Costigan all of Florida; and the uncle and godfather of Elaina, Steven, and Helena Spendio. He also is survived by many cousins. Andy was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Stanley and Mary Promowicz, and his paternal grandparents Herbert and Agnes Hughes.

Visitation will be on Tuesday August 2nd from 5 – 8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY with prayers to conclude the visitation. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
