Angela (Tavormina) Modica Amore, 97, formerly of the Town of Niagara, died on Monday April 25, 2011 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Siculiana, Province of Agrigento, Sicily, Italy she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Giuseppa (Curaba) Tavormina.
Angela was educated in Italy and on October 16, 1933 she married Leonardo Modica Amore in Siculiana, Province of Agrigento, Sicily, Italy. In 1967, Angela and her husband immigrated to the United States and settled in the Niagara Falls area, where she lived until the present time. Mr. Modica Amore predeceased her on November 2, 2008. Angela was an excellent cook, and was devoted to the care and well being of her family.

Mrs. Modica Amore is survived by three children Francesca (Vincenzo) Zambito of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Thomas (Rose) Modica Amore and Josephine (Angelo) Modica Amore both of the Town of Niagara; ten grandchildren Sam Zambito, Cathy (Bill) Murray, Leonard (Jean) Zambito, Joseph (Sandra) Zambito, Leonard (Josephine) Modica Amore, Angela (Attilio) Colangelo, Gaetano (Grace) Modica Amore, Vincent Modica Amore, Leonard (Lori) Modica Amore and Francine Modica Amore; thirteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins in the United States, Canada, and Italy. She was predeceased by one brother Domenico Tavormina.

Visitation will be on Wednesday 2 – 4 and 6 – 9 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin Thursday April 28th at 11:45 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S. officiating. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. If desired, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence, 5285 Lewiston Rd.
