Starts at 10:00 am
Angela Gedeon, 91, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, at Schoellkopf Health Center. Born in Dansville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Mary (Battaglia) Zanghi; and the beloved wife of the late Ernest Gedeon, whom she married on March 29, 1962 in Juarez, Mexico.
Angela moved to Niagara Falls with her family as a young child and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. While still in school, she began working at Niagara Falls City Hall in the Health Department, an early start to what would become a remarkable and dedicated career in public service. She later joined the Niagara County Health Department, where she devoted more than 50 years to the well‑being of children and families. Angela retired as the Director of Children with Special Needs, proudly holding the distinction of being one of the county’s longest‑serving employees.
Angela was a longtime member of St. John de LaSalle Church. She was a world traveler who also enjoyed going to the casino and especially enjoyed trips to Las Vegas. Angela was an avid reader, had a natural gift for interior design and was always sharply dressed.
Most of all, Angela poured her heart into her family. She took immense pride in raising her children to be confident, capable, and independent, and she treasured every moment spent with her loving family.
Angela is survived by her children, Lauren Palmer, Lisa (Frank Hoy) Chester Hoy and Lynn Velasco; her grandchildren, Otis (Ellahjoy) Jayroe, Albert (Ashley) Chester, Anthony (Samantha) Chester and Vincenzo (Kendra Steinbroner) Velasco; her great-grandchildren, Vincent, Jackson, Mackenzie, Aliyah and Nayumilynn, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Josephine (late Joseph) Jozwik and Carol (late Thomas) Schrader.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Schoellkopf Health Center and Niagara Hospice for the care and compassion given to Angela.
Angela’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 25 at 10:00 AM in St. John de LaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Ave, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Arrangements by M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
