Angelo Aguglia, 91 of Niagara Falls, NY died on June 18, 2016 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Cerda, Sicily, Italy he was the son of the late Luigi and Giuseppina (Graziano) Aguglia.
Angelo was raised and educated in Italy. He married Maria G. (D'Attilo) Aguglia on October 22, 1960 in Italy, and in 1969 they immigrated to the United States settling in Niagara Falls. She predeceased him on April 26, 2011. Angelo was a talented wood craftsman and furniture maker in Italy. He was also a gifted shoe maker and known throughout his home town for his innovative designs. Angelo's passion for woodworking carried over to this country working as a self-employed carpenter for various local contractors until his retirement. He also took great pride in making numerous furniture pieces for family members. In his leisure time he enjoyed playing bocce and tending to his garden. He was a longtime parishioner of Prince of Peace Church. Most importantly, his life was devoted to his family and spending time with them, particularly his grandchildren.
Angelo is survived by his three children, Anna Aguglia, Louis (Jacki) Aguglia both of Niagara Falls and Tricia (Sam) Azra of Charlotte, NC; six grandchildren, Sammy Torcasio, Vinny (Lisa) Torcasio, Louie Aguglia, Ashlie Torcasio, Nicholas Azra and Zachary Azra, one great-granddaughter Gianna Wynn and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by six sisters and five brothers.
There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 24th at 12:00 Noon in St. Vincent DePaul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Catholic Charities of WNY 741 Delaware Ave. Buffalo, NY 14209.
