Angelo P. Onevelo, 91, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Friday July 15, 2011 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Costantino and Rose (Deramio) Onevelo.

Angelo was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He served in the United States Army as a Corporal during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1943. On December 2, 1942 he married Ida M. (Briand) Onevelo at St. Anne's Church in Niagara Falls Ontario, Canada. Mrs. Onevelo predeceased him on January 8, 2004. Angelo was the founder of Century Salvage later known as Ange's Scrap Iron and Metal, Inc. in Niagara Falls, NY which he operated for over fifty years. For over fifty years, Angelo devoted much of his time to his passion, the Niagara Falls Sertoma Club. He served as secretary and treasurer for twelve years and has been the recipient of numerous humanitarian awards for his service and dedication to the community through the Sertoma Club. Angelo also enjoyed bowling in various local leagues with the Niagara Falls Sertoma Club Bowling team and served on the Board of Directors of NIACAP (Niagara Community Action Program).

Mr. Onevelo is survived by his two children, Sharon O. (Andrew) Watkinson of Grand Island, NY and Angelo V. (Mary) Onevelo of Niagara Falls, NY; three grandchildren, Phillip A. (Kimberly) Onevelo, Michael J. (Jessica) Onevelo and Angelo J. Onevelo; two great-grandchildren, Derek John Onevelo and Phillip James Onevelo, his special niece Rosanne (Steve) Zafuto as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Rosaline Onevelo and Angeline (late Anthony) Briand.

There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday July 18th at 10 a.m. at St. John De LaSalle Church, 8469 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Lynn Shumway officiating. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Niagara Falls Sertoma Club or to St. John De LaSalle Church, 8469 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Arrangements by M.J.
