Anita Mae (Sbarbati) Chiappone, 89, of Lewiston, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away Monday June 4, 2012 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Carella) Sbarbati.

Anita attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. She was a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo Teachers College in Buffalo, NY. She worked as a substitute teacher for the Niagara Falls Board of Education and later at St. Peter's Catholic Elementary in Lewiston. On September 27, 1943 she married Salvatore J. Chiappone, D.D.S. in Our Lady of Lebanon Church, Niagara Falls, NY. Anita was a member of a Bridge Ladies Card Group and a Rummy Ladies Card Group. Most importantly her life centered on her family and she served as caregiver to many of her family members.

In addition to her husband of sixty-nine years, she is survived by two children Karen L. Veillette of Bay Village, OH and John J. Chiappone of Cleveland, OH. She was predeceased by a daughter Nancy Gail (Terry) (Tempest) Chiappone and a son, Thomas R. (Gina) Chiappone. Anita is survived by eight grandchildren, Steven M Veillette, Lisa (Wes) Gilmore, Mark (Jessica) Tempest, Brittaney Chiappone, Vincent Chiappone, Giovanni Chiappone, Marianna Chiappone, Michael Chiappone, four great-grandchildren Lacey, Lilla and Lottie Gilmore and Nathan Tempest, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Anita was predeceased by her brother Vincent J. Sbarbati.

Visitation will be Wednesday 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin Thursday June 7th at 10:15am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Church, 620 Center St. Lewiston, NY.
