Anna Maria Bellegia, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. She was born 1923, in Niagara Falls, NY, the
daughter of Joseph & Margaret (Gaeta) Fratello. She married the late Gene Bellegia on April 21, 1948 at St. Joseph's RC Church.
Anne Marie, as she was affectionately known, is survived by one son, Carl Gene (Amy) Bellegia and two grandchildren, Christopher (Rachel) Bellegia
and Victoria Bellegia; one brother, Cosmo (late Josephine) Fratello; one sister, Joan Fratello; and too numerous to mention beloved nieces, nephews,
great nieces, nephews and a great great niece and nephew, as well as many cousins. She was predeceased by her beloved brother, Anthony (Linda) Fratello.
Anne Marie was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Class of '41. She was
employed by International Paper Company and later was office manager of the Carbide-Carbon FCU for 17 years before retiring. Anne Marie was a kind and loving person, and was valued for those qualities as well as for being a true matriarch of the Fratello-Gaeta-Bellegia families. She
was a great repository and teller of tales of the history of that clan, and one of the last of a large group of close cousins who grew up on "11th Street" in the Roaring 20s and the Great Depression. Anne Marie was known for her larger than life heart. Her love for family and friends was all encompassing and her love and generosity touched anyone she met. She believed that everyone should accept people as they are and she lived every day of her life that way... "Busy?, Happy?"
She donated her body to SUNY at Buffalo Medical School's Anatomical Gift program. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 10 a. in Holy Family Parish of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to St. Elizabeth Mission Society, PO Box 86, Allegany, NY 14706.
