Anna (Cassata) Mittiga, 101 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Wednesday March 31, 2010 at her residence while under the care of her family and Niagara Hospice. Born on April 24, 1908 in Palermo, Sicily, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose (Cocomise) Cassata.
Anna immigrated to the Niagara Falls area in 1930. She was a member of the Madonna Del Soccorso Society and Cristoforo Colombo Society Ladies Auxiliary both of Niagara Falls. Anna was a devout Catholic. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, but most importantly focused her life on family.
Mrs. Mittiga was predeceased by her husband Antonio DiLaura, and later husband Dominic Mittiga. She is survived by three children, Jack (late Marceline) DiLaura, Sarah (late Vincent 'Jimmy') Mameli and Rose (late Patrick) DiCamillo all of Niagara Falls, NY, nine grandchildren, Mark DiLaura, Jacqueline (Joseph) Perrili, Perry (Denise) DiLaura, John (Karen) Mameli, Vincent Mameli, Anthony Mameli, Michael (Amy) DiCamillo, Maria McMonagle and Michele (Roger) Freeman, sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by seven brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI AND SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Wednesday April 7th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue Niagara Fall, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay O.S.F.S. officiating. Entombment will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY.
