Anna Naradowski, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 18, 2010. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the only child of the late Thomas and Agatha (Kapelka) Rutkowski.
After attending local schools, Anna worked as a Triscuit packer and breakfast preparer for visitors at Nabisco Shredded Wheat in Niagara Falls. She later became the head cook at the southern-themed Plantation Restaurant, formerly located on the corner of Military Road and Niagara Falls Boulevard. In 1937 she married Florian "Floyd" Naradowski at Holy Trinity Church; he predeceased her in 1967. Anna enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing, making many clothes for her daughters. She also made many fine items for her home and family at a Home Bureau unit.
Anna was a member of St. Raphael's Church (formerly St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Church), where she volunteered for the Bereavement Committee. She was also a member of other service organizations and social clubs. Always open for adventure, she began cross-country skiing at the age of 75. She also loved traveling in Eastern and Western Europe, Canada and the United States. Poland was a favorite destination; she enjoyed following Polish customs and traditions with her family and looked forward to going to the Broadway Market in Buffalo, NY each Easter. In her unassuming way, Anna celebrated the family, always putting their needs before her own.
Anna is survived by three daughters Joanne (late Ralph) Shemik, Barbara Naradowski and Elizabeth (late Michael) Mangno all of Niagara Falls, NY; two grandchildren Russell (Rosemarie) Shemik and Susan (Michael) Mangno-Richards, four great grandsons Nicholas, Christopher and Thomas Shemik and Michael C. Richards and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
