Anna Marie Roscetti, 86, a life-long resident of Niagara Falls, NY, died on September 17, 2013, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. She had resided there, with her husband by her side for the past two years and eight months. A devoted wife and mother of two, Anna was the daughter of the late Frank Bruno, of San Donato di Ninea, Cosenza, Italy and the late Rose (Ciappetta) Bruno, of Trafford PA. She was educated in local Niagara Falls schools and was a graduate of the former Trott Vocational High School.
After her first position as Executive Secretary at Carborundum Corporation in Niagara Falls, NY, she chose a career as a traditional stay-home mom. She then worked for many years, in sales, at Reed's Jewelers in the Summit Park Mall. During her retirement, with her drive to stay involved, she volunteered for the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Women's Auxiliary, and in the Niagara Falls Public School System, as a teacher's aide. She often stated that she had found her "true calling" with young children and that if she could re -write her life, she would certainly be a teacher.
She was very active in her local parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, the Fatima Shrine, Travel Club and the Italian Sons and Daughter's Club of America (Power City Lodge). She loved cooking traditional Italian recipes for her family and friends, celebrating holidays, gardening, singing and dancing. She also enjoyed golf and was a passionate bocce player. She appreciated travel, especially in France and Italy, and spent many memorable times in New York City and Los Angeles with her children, curiously exploring the arts and new cultures with an adventurous spirit. For over fifteen years, she spent winters in her beloved condominium in West Palm Beach with her husband and friends, challenging herself with new activities such as yoga, singing in chorus and playing bridge.
During her first months at Our Lady of Peace, she was always smiling at the staff that dedicatedly cared for her and especially enjoyed the musical events, which provided a vehicle for her expression of song and dance, so dear to her heart. She eventually considered the room she shared with her husband to be her home, surrounded by love, music and security.
Anna's husband of sixty six years, Armeto Edward Roscetti, predeceased her on September 5, 2013. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Roscetti of Manhattan and her son Edward Roscetti, of Los Angeles. She is also survived by her brother, Anthony (Linda) Bruno of Cincinnati, OH, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Norma and John Sicoli of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no prior visitation. Private funeral services will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lewiston, NY, at the convenience of the family. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence, 5285 Lewiston Road, Lewiston, NY 14092 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
