Obituary
Anne C. (Martino) Garabedian, 82, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Thursday July 21, 2011 surrounded by her loving family under the care of Niagara Hospice at her daughter's home. Born in Merritton, Ontario, Canada she was the daughter of the late Antonio 'Tony' and Rita (Anzovino) Martino.
Anne attended school in Canada. On August 25, 1952 she married Joseph 'Scuppy" Garabedian at St. Patrick's Church in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Mr. Garabedian predeceased her on November 18, 1992. She was employed in the Deli Department of Tops Markets on Portage Road in Niagara Falls, NY and for a brief time at Latina's Importing Co. on Pine Avenue. She later worked at Tops International Markets also in Niagara Falls until she retired in the late 1990's. Anne was a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society Ladies Auxiliary for over fifty years. Most important to Anne was her family and friends who she centered her life around.
Anne is survived by two children Larry Garabedian of Niagara Falls, NY and Carol (Joseph) Gariano of Lewiston, NY and was predeceased by one daughter Angela (Nunzio of Lewiston, NY) LaVerdi. She is also survived by four grandchildren Brittany LaVerdi, Nicky Gariano, Joey Gariano and Krisanne Corio, her niece and nephew JoAnne (Michael) Frustaglio of Woodbridge, Ontario and Richard (Angela) Pettay of Ft. Erie, Ontario and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters Elizabeth (Hank of Niagara Falls, Ontario) Pettay and Angie (Mike of Toronto, Ontario) Potalivo.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Monday July 25th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S. officiating. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
