Annie E. Scales, 95, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024 surrounded by her family while under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born in Axton, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late James and Jennie Kate (Hodge) Norman.

On May 27, 1950, Annie married Jesse "Juke Box" Scales, and the couple moved to Niagara Falls shortly thereafter.  Mr. Scales predeceased her on January 2, 2010.  Annie was employed with Figler's Dry Cleaning in the 1950s, worked as a Home Health Care Aide for 5 years in the 1970s, but her true passion was being a seamstress and re-upholsterer, to which she spent 50 years of her life to doing with love and care. Most important, though, in Annie's life was her faith--she was baptized in 1965 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, devoting her life to teaching others the Bible's truths, which she did voluntarily each month for over 59 years.

"Mama Scales", as she was affectionately known to all, was extremely hospitable, and always had a large pot of never-ending stew that she shared with all.  In addition to cooking and baking, Annie loved to tend to her garden.  She will be remembered most for her keen wit and the love she showed to all of those she encountered, especially her beloved family.

Annie is survived by her beloved daughters, Pamela (Benny) Pryor, Cheryl (late Burgess) Polk, Beverly Scales, Vivian "Vicky" Scales, and Carla (Rick) Davis; her grandchildren, Alexis Coleman, Burgess (Nakita) Polk, Markita (Ricky) Riley, Brad Davis and Jordan Davis; her great-grandchildren, Jhaidyn, De'Shaun, Ky'Shaun, Shaunay, Olu, Mark, and Anglin; her great-great-grandchild, Easton; her sister, Eva Mae (late Sam) Dillard, her special cousin, Anthony 'Ray' Curry and his son, Markese as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. In addition to her husband of 59 years, she was predeceased by her brothers, Sam Norman and James Clarence (Elizabeth "Ann") Norman.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 11 – 1 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304. Private interment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 17th at 2:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3200 17th St. NF, NY 14305.
