Anthony R. Abbruzzo, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Saturday March 3, 2012 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Carmen and Angela Maria (Conti) (Palazzo) Abbruzzo.

Tony was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. In the late 1930's he served with the Civilian Conservation Corps Forestry in Idaho and NY. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army from November 21, 1942 until his honorable discharge on October 28, 1943. On December 5, 1957 he married Lorraine M. (Greco) Abbruzzo at St. Michael's Church in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Tony was employed at Hooker Chemical Co. later known as Occidental Chemical Corp. in Niagara Falls, NY and retired in 1982 after thirty eight years of service. Following his retirement he worked with the Green Thumb Program for the New York State Parks Department.

Mr. Abbruzzo enjoyed playing cards, dancing, going to the movies and was a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society in Niagara Falls, NY.
He loved socializing and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends during the winter months in Florida. Tony was also an incredibly generous, kindhearted man and always helping others in need. But most of all, he will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his wife of fifty four years, Anthony is survived by two sons Michael A. Abbruzzo (fiancé Diane Perrell) of North Royalton, OH and Carl (Susan) Ciadella of Las Vegas, NV; three granddaughters Lisa Abbruzzo (fiancé Dale Papes), Stephanie Abbruzzo and Brianne Abbruzzo, one great granddaughter Alyssa Nicole and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister Benjamin (late Rose) Palazzo, Gene (late Florence) Palazzo, Onofrio (late Rose) Palazzo and Millie (late Anthony) Gravante.

There will be no prior visitation. A private service with Military Honors will be held for the immediate family at St. Joseph Cemetery in Niagara Falls, NY. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
