Anthony F. Aversa, 74 of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Monday July 31, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  He passed at his home surrounded by his loving family and faithful friends. Anthony was predeceased by his parents, Anthony B. and Lena M. (Biamonte) Aversa, and his sister, Rosemary (late John) Hanrahan.

Anthony taught Language Arts at Niagara Wheatfield High School for thirty-two years.  He also served as the school's tennis coach for twenty-seven years, bowling coach and was an advisor to the Student Council and school newspaper.  In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing, reading, and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish on his property in Chautauqua.  Above all, Anthony loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his loving wife of fifty-one years, Maria M. (Marra) Aversa, Anthony is survived by his son, Anthony P. (Tiana) Aversa, his daughter, Tina M.  (Rene) Lombardo, five grandsons, Melvin Dyster, Jaden Lombardo, Anthony B. Aversa, Peter Aversa and Logan Lombardo, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Gracelyn M. (Dr. A.J.) Bax, Sandra M. (Dr. Frank P.) Altieri, Deborah Marra, Richard Muto, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday August 7 ^th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street Lewiston, NY.
