Anthony Colangelo, 57, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the dear son to Laura (Giuliani) Colangelo of Lewiston, NY and the late Joseph Colangelo.
Anthony graduated from Niagara Catholic High School and attended the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. On August 14,1982 he married Flora (Faiola) Colangelo at St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls. Anthony was employed as a Mechanical Engineer at Washington Mills Electro Minerals in Niagara Falls, NY for the last 27 years. Prior to that, he worked at Stackpole Corporation of St. Marys, Pennsylvania and Great Lakes Carbon of Niagara Falls.
Anthony was a devout Catholic and lifelong member of St. Joseph's Church. He was an active member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society in Niagara Falls. In his leisure time, Anthony enjoyed winemaking with his Uncle Tony and tending to his father's garden. A talented craftsman, he was always up to the task of helping those around him with a quiet and humble demeanor. He also enjoyed reading the newspaper and keeping up with current events. Above all, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
In addition to his beloved wife, and mother, Mr. Colangelo is survived by his four children, Joseph (Liz) Colangelo, Christina (Anthony) Scarpace, Julia (Jeffrey) Meyers, Nick (Jillian Dobson) Colangelo; two grandchildren Giuliana and Santino Scarpace; his four siblings Anna (Samuel) Paniccia, Attilio (Angela) Colangelo, Giulio (Beth) Colangelo, Ida Maria (Christopher) Pannozzo. He is also survived by his aunt Liliana (Tony) Benedetti; mother and father-in-law Vittorio and Lucia Faiola; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Josephine (Leonard) ModicaAmore, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Anthony was predeceased by aunts and uncles, Adelina (Pasquale) DiCenso, Vincent (Elaine) Colangelo and Pasquale Colangelo.
Anthony was thankful for the support and care of his neighbors and the medical professionals assisting him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 2nd from 3 – 8 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Wednesday at 9:15 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart M. Lindsay, O.S.F.S officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Parish, 1413 Pine Ave. Niagara Falls, NY or to a charity of one's choice.
