Anthony D. Cosentino, 85, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Thursday October 6, 2011 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Antonio and Cosima Cosentino.
Anthony was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls. He graduated from Niagara Falls High School and later from the University of Buffalo where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. During World War II he served in the United States Army as a Corporal with the 1055th Quartermaster Company Air Service Group stationed in both Germany and Japan from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946. On September 8, 1956 he married Lucy F. (Galbo) Cosentino at Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Niagara Falls.
Anthony was employed by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance in Buffalo, New York from 1952 until his retirement in 1981 after twenty nine years of service. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council 247 in Niagara Falls. Anthony was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, and in his younger years, enjoyed golfing. Anthony also enjoyed going to the casino, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of fifty five years, Anthony is survived by one daughter, Tina Marie (Daniel) Flynn of Niagara Falls, NY; three grandsons, Matthew Talley, Christian Talley and Kenneth Talley and was predeceased by one grandson Justin Talley. Survivors also include several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Cosentino was predeceased by four brothers, Salvatore (late Elizabeth) Cosentino, Dominic (late Marion) Cosentino, Blase Cosentino, John (Amelia of North Carolina) Cosentino and two sisters, Antonina (late Ralph) DeFazio and Phoebe (late Anthony) Troisi.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where services will be held on Monday October 10th at 11 a.m. with Rev. Duane R. Klizek officiating. Entombment will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY with Military Honors.
