Anthony L.
Costa
October 3, 2022
Anthony L. Costa, 92, of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away on October 3, 2022 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Alice (Sadauskas) Costa.
Anthony attended local schools in Scranton, PA, where he graduated from High School. In the late 1940's, he came to Niagara Falls, NY to work. From 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1954, he served proudly in the United States Army as a Paratrooper with the 82 nd Airborne and Base Photographer, and was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, Fort Benning, GA, and Fort Dix, NJ. On June 9, 1956, he married Frances (Battaglia) Costa at Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls.
Anthony was employed for 32 years as a Research Analyst and Spectographer at Carborundum in Niagara Falls, NY until his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed photography, especially taking photographs of Niagara Falls and of his family. In addition, he was a skilled woodworker and artist, assisting with the construction of several pieces at Prince of Peace Church. Anthony had a great interest in aviation and was a joint owner of a Piper Cub that he enjoyed flying. In addition, he was a proud member of the 82 nd Airborne Retiree's group.
However, Anthony's life was not defined by his abilities or hobbies, but rather by his worth. He was a loving husband, a cherished father, and a devoted grandfather and great grandfather. In addition, he was a great teacher and advisor of his children, and took a hands-on approach in coaching them in both sports and life, and their various other activities. In addition to being kind, generous and forgiving, Anthony will be remembered for his good sense of humor
