Obituary

Anthony DeLabio, Jr., Ret. NFFD, 87, of the Town of Niagara, passed away on October 28, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Anthony and Gabrielle (Morgan) DeLabio, Sr.

Tony graduated from Trott Vocational in 1952.  He proudly served in the United States Army in Korea from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955.  On September 9, 1961, he married Sarah E. (Gigliotti) DeLabio at St. John de LaSalle Church.  Mrs. DeLabio predeceased him on June 3, 2012.

Tony was employed as a Firefighter with the Niagara Falls Fire Department for 32 years, retiring in 1995.  Post retirement, he worked as a Funeral Attendant with the M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel.  Tony was a member of the Niagara County Sportsman's Club and was also a Diver with the Erie County Sheriff Underwater Unit.  Tony enjoyed target shooting, hunting and scuba diving.  Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his wife, children and grandchildren.

Mr. DeLabio is survived by his children, Anita Scrivano (Rocky Mantell) and Anthony V. DeLabio (Tammy Randolph); his grandchildren, Sarah Scrivano and Vincent Kirby; his niece, Nicole Gigliotti, as well as his brother-in-law Vincent (Lisa) Gigliotti.  In addition to his wife of 50 years, he was predeceased by his sister, Irene DeLabio.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will begin on Monday at 9:30 AM followed by Anthony's Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. John de LaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.  Entombment to follow with Military Honors at St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.  If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.  Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
