Anthony L. "Tony" Demico, 85, of Lockport, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY died on Sunday August 30, 2009 in Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Giovanni and Anna (Mancuso) Demico.
Tony attended local schools in Niagara Falls. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe as a Surgical Technician from February 10, 1943 until his honorable discharge on November 13, 1945. He received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with a Bronze Arrowhead, a Good Conduct Medal and the American Service Medal. On July 3, 1946 he married Elizabeth 'Liz' R. (Gaetano) Demico at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Tony was employed as a carpenter by the City of Niagara Falls and later at Booth Strong Lumber Company later known as Booth DeMunda Lumber Co. in Niagara Falls, NY as a carpenter and cabinet maker. He later worked as a carpenter and locksmith at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center until his retirement. In 1995 he moved to Lockport, NY where he currently resided. In his leisure time, Tony enjoyed woodworking projects and fishing.
In addition to his wife of sixty three years, Mr. Demico is survived by two children Joanne (Dr. Brijendra) Gupta of Lockport, NY and John A. (Deborah) Demico of Las Vegas, NV; one grandson Nikhil Gupta and one sister Josephine (late Vincent) Cerrone of Niagara Falls, NY.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Thursday September 3rd at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport, NY. Interment with Military Honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
