Anthony DeSimone, 73, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Elderwood at Grand Island. Born on April 5, 1947 in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Anthony Sr. and Elisa DeSimone. On November 22, 1969, he married the former Jacqueline Zabaldo at Prince of Peace Church. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last November.

He was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and a member of the Army National Guard from 1967 to 1973. For 34 years he was employed at Nabisco until the plant's closing in 2001. He later worked part time as a driver for NAPA Auto Parts.

Mr. DeSimone was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and he also enjoyed horse racing and attending classic car shows.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and his willingness to help others. Most of all, he will be remembered for the love and devotion he had for his children and grandchildren who meant the world to him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline; his beloved children: Anthony C. (Kimberly) DeSimone and Maria L. (Shawn) Grapes as well as his cherished grandchildren: Evelyn, Alexander, Anthony E, Adrianna, and Julian. He was the brother of Ann (Lorenzo) Brown, Raymond (Lucy), DeSimone, and Lisa DeSimone; and the brother-in- law of Joseph Zabaldo

The family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Sonjoy Singh, Dr. Kenneth Halliwell, the staff of Ralph C Wilson Adult Day Care Center, and the staff of Elderwood at Grand Island for the care and support provided throughout the past 6 years. It was very much appreciated.

Due to the recent circumstances, private services will be held for the immediate family followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.  A public memorial service will be held at a future date to be announced.
