Anthony "Tony" Giannangeli, 89, of Lewiston, NY passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at his residence while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Secinaro, Italy he was the son of the late Dominick and Angelina (Giandomenico) Giannangeli.
Tony, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, was raised and educated in Italy. He immigrated to the United States to Steubenville, OH in 1946, and later settled in the Niagara Falls area. On June 18, 1955 he married Eleanor (Faieta) Giannangeli at St. Joseph's Church. Tony was employed at the Stauffer Chemical Company for twenty-five years until the plants closing and later retired from TAM Ceramics after sixteen years of service. He was a member of the I.S.D.A. Power City Lodge, and in his leisure time enjoyed gardening and making wine.
In addition to his wife of sixty-one years, Tony is survived by two children, Dominic (Lovee) Giannangeli of Philadelphia, PA and Loretta (Edward) O'Connor, Jr. of Wheatfield, NY; four grandchildren, Tiffany (John) Giannangeli-Ross, Tony Giannangeli, Eleanor O'Connor and Edward O'Connor, III; one great-grandson Rocco Giannangeli, his sister Dora (Francis) Piverotto of Steubenville, OH and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by one brother Emilio Giannangeli.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 29th at 10 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S. officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
