Obituary

Anthony I. "Ninny" Leone, 83, of Wheatfield, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY died on Thursday December 16, 2010 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Ignazio and Josephine (Lazarra) Leone.

"Ninny", as he was known to family and friends, was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area and attended local schools. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1944. He was employed in the Transportation Department of Hooker Chemical Co. in Niagara Falls, NY until his retirement in the 1980's. Prior to that he worked at the former Kimberly Clark Corp. and Nitech, both in Niagara Falls. Ninny was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America Cataract Lodge in Niagara Falls and in his leisure time he enjoyed golf.

Anthony is survived by two children Deborah (Harvey) Shimko of Tinley Park, IL and Anthony (Lynnette) Leone of Fargo, ND; six grandchildren Kristina Zell, Jeremy Zell, Jason Zell, Erik (Kari) Leone, Nicholas (Molly) Leone and Alicia (Scott) Homer, six great grandchildren, two brothers Dr. Casmer E. (Elpina) Leone and Joseph (late Rosalie) Leone both of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother Jack (late Caroline) Leone, three sisters Esther (late Buddy) Mulé, Frances (late Daniel) DeSantis and Petrina (late Nick) Martino.

Friends may call on Sunday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday December 20th at 10:00 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment with military honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
