Anthony M. Mondi, Sr., 76,  of Grand Island, NY and formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on July 20, 2026. He was born January 31, 1950, the son of the late Santo and Ella Mondi.

Anthony attended Bishop Duffy High School and graduated from Trott Vocational High School in 1968. He retired from the Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel in December 2012, where he worked as a Security Manager. Previously, he was employed as a Millwright for SGL Carbon in Niagara Falls from June 1969 until the plant closed in 2002.

On February 7, 1970, he married his childhood sweetheart, Geraldine Polizzi in Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Niagara Falls, NY.

Being very community-minded, Anthony was a past member of the Niagara County Democratic Committee and past Chairman of the Niagara Falls City Democratic Committee; Past President of the United Steelworkers of America; Current member of the Knights of Columbus Council; Past President of the Niagara Falls Rapids Baseball Booster Club; Volunteer for Niagara Falls Firefighters Christmas Toy Fund telethon along with his wife, Geri, for which they received an award for 20 years of service to the telethon. They also volunteered together for the Lord’s Day Dinner serving Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter dinner to needy families in the Niagara area.

Anthony was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and loved watching them play.

Anthony is survived by his daughter Christina of Tampa, FL and son Anthony Mondi Jr., of Grand Island; and his grandsons, Austin (Callie) and Jared Hymiak of Tampa, FL. He was predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife, Geri.
