Obituary

Anthony P. Pizzimenti, 80 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Monday March 23, 2009 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Pasquale and Grace (Marra) Pizzimenti.

Anthony was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, and attended local schools including the former Trott Vocational High School. He served in the United States Army from May 5, 1946 until his honorable discharge on November 1, 1947. He was a qualified airplane and engine mechanic, as well as rifle marksman, and awarded the World War II Victory Medal. On October 6, 1962, Anthony married Marie D. (Ricotta) Pizzimenti in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls. Tony worked at Bell Aircraft, the Carborundum Company, Sanborn Telephone Company and Remington Rand Corporation until becoming employed at Harrison Radiator in Lockport, NY where he worked until his retirement in 1994 after twenty nine years of service.

Tony was a lifetime member of the YMCA, 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 247, a member of the ISDA Power City Lodge, and the Cristoforo Colombo Society, all of Niagara Falls. He was a devout Catholic and long time member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls. He was a passionate bingo player and gardener, and especially enjoyed tending to his flower garden. Tony took great pleasure in studying science and astronomy, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife of forty six years, he is survived by his son David G. (Rhonda) Pizzimenti of Niagara Falls, NY, four granddaughters; Whitley (Mark) Hodges, Melissa (Albert) Garcia, Gabriella Pizzimenti and Grace Robertson, three sisters and one brother; Catherine Pizzimenti of Lewiston, NY, Joseph (Irene) Pizzimenti of Plano, TX, Grace (Richard) Owczarzak of Richfield, CT and Gloria McNitt of Niagara Falls, NY as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by one sister Mary Pizzimenti.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI AND SON NIAGARA FUENRAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY. The Knights of Columbus will conduct a Prayer service Thursday at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday March 27th at 11:15 A.M. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 27th St. and Independence Ave. Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY. Memorial offerings may be made to Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 1413 Pine Ave. Niagara Falls, NY 14301 or Niagara Falls YMCA 1317 Portage Road Niagara Falls, NY 14301.
