Anthony M. Puglisi, 84, of Lewiston, NY died on Tuesday October 19, 2010 at Taylor Health Care Center in Bath, NY. Born in Arnold, PA he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Goivannina (Trunzo) Puglisi.
Anthony moved to the Niagara Falls area as a young child with his family. He attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School in Niagara Falls and later from Buffalo State College where he studied metallurgy and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army. In 1961 he married Marie (Schiavone) Puglisi in Niagara Falls, NY. Anthony was employed as a Metallurgist at Airco Speer in Niagara Falls where he worked until he was in his 70's. He was a member of St. Peter's Church in Lewiston, NY. Anthony was an avid sports fan especially of the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills, and in his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball, football and bowling. Anthony's real passion was golf, participating in the Industrial Golf League at the Hyde Park golf course in Niagara Falls.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Puglisi is survived by four sons Vernon Puglisi of East Rochester, NY; Anthony (Rena) Puglisi of Corning, NY; Steven (Kristin) Puglisi of Fredonia, NY; Michael (Danielle) Puglisi of Niagara Falls, NY; his daughter-in-law Colleen Puglisi, eight grandchildren Max Puglisi, Dakota Spinner, Grace Puglisi, Francesca Puglisi, Dena Puglisi, Anthony Puglisi, Sebastian Puglisi and Michael Puglisi, one sister Margaret Bellina of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three sisters and one brother Martha McNamara-Lauer, Grace Nalbone, Virginia Russella and Michael Puglisi.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Saturday October 23rd at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY with Rev. Sebastian Pierro officiating. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY, with Military Honors.
