Antonio Cavese, 91, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Monday July 18, 2011 at his residence under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Ceccano, Frisone, Italy he was the son of the late Lorenzo and Angela (Capoccetta) Cavese.
Antonio was educated in Italy. During World War II he served in the Italian Army in Libya and North Africa and was a Prisoner of War for six years. Antonio immigrated to Canada in 1949 and he came to Niagara Falls, NY in 1951where he lived until the present time. On June 9, 1951 he married Erma J. (Gabrielli) Cavese at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls. He was employed at the Hooker Chemical Company in Niagara Falls, NY until he retired after thirty years of service. In his leisure time, Antonio enjoyed gardening.
In addition to his wife of sixty years, Mr. Cavese is survived by three children Angela Cavese of Friendswood, TX; Richard (Anita) Cavese of Lewiston, NY and Anthony (Jeanine) Cavese of Niagara Falls, NY; five grandchildren Christopher, Amanda, Corie, Alexis and Brianna and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters Pasquale (late Mary) Cavese, Dominic (late Tomasina) Cavese, Mary(late Louis) Cavese and Colomba Sisto.
Antonio was also fond of his friends and neighbors. A special mention to Al Hornung, Sandy Buffone Walaszek and Debbie Reeves Conte, for their kind love and support.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 3 – 7 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday July 22nd at 10 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
