Obituary

Armeto Edward Roscetti, 90, a resident of Niagara Falls, New York, died on September 5, 2013 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. He had resided there, with his beloved wife by his side, for the past two years and eight months. A devoted husband and father of two, Armeto "Arme", son of Silvio and Maria Roscetti, was born in Calacsio, Abruzzo, Italy. He attended local Niagara Falls schools and was a graduate of the former Trott Vocational High School. He proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Army-Air Force, with the 449th Fighter Squadron (Flying Tigers, under General Chiang Kai-shek) during World War II. He was decorated with a World War II Victory Medal for Asiatic-Pacific Service, and was honorably discharged from the military in 1946.
After a dedicated career for almost forty years as a machinist at the experimental lab of the Columbus McKinnon Group in North Tonawanda, he pursued his interests in building, gardening and maintaining the home he built himself. He was often seen fishing in the Niagara River with his faithful dog Clancy. He was relentlessly helping his children, family and neighbors with projects and creating gardens for friends who no longer had the strength nor capacity to do so. The mantra was "Arme could always fix anything". He appreciated traveling to see his children and spent winters in West Palm Beach with his wife and friends, playing bocce and woodworking for fifteen years. He was a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters Club (Power City Lodge) and was a passionate New York Yankee and Buffalo Bill fan.
During his final years of residence at Our Lady of Peace, he spent his time quietly reading, listening to music and watching news and sporting events. Most importantly, he continued to "care and provide" for his wife in his own special way, almost to his last day.
Armeto is survived by his wife, of 66 years, Anna (Bruno) Roscetti, his daughter, Linda Roscetti, of Manhattan and his son Edward Roscetti, of Los Angeles. He is also survived by his sister, Norma (John) Sicoli and several nieces and nephews all of Niagara Falls, NY. He was also predeceased by his brother John (late Barbara) Roscetti. Additionally Armeto is also survived by his brother-in-law, Anthony and Linda Bruno of Cincinnati, OH.
