Arthur W. Dietrick, 89, of Lewiston, NY, died on Saturday November 22, 2014, at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Hovis) Dietrick.

Arthur was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area and attended local schools. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1943 and from Niagara University summa cum laude in 1947. He was awarded scholarships for post graduate studies at the Universities of Michigan and Minnesota. Arthur had a career as an educator for over thirty years and taught Latin and English at St. Mary's High School, North Junior High School and Niagara Falls High School and retired in 1980. Following his retirement he volunteered for many years in the Big Brothers program in Canada.

Arthur is survived by his good friends, Joy Barmstone, "Little Brother" Sean McCutcheon, and Richard Braas, as well as several cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Dietrick.

There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, December 13th at 11 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Donations in Mr. Dietrick's memory may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094. Arrangements by M.J.
