Obituary

Arthur Evarts, 79, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at N.F. Memorial Medical Center. Born in Montpelier, VT he was the son of the late Volney and Elizabeth (Merrill) Evarts.

Arthur graduated from Port Henry High School in 1954 and served in the U.S. Air Force from July 12, 1954 until his honorable discharge on March 7, 1958. Following his discharge he came to Niagara Falls, NY where he lived until the present time. On September 10, 1960 he married Patricia (Cichelli) Evarts at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls. Mrs. Evarts predeceased him on December 26, 2014. In 1958 he worked at the former Treadway Inn and was later employed as a pipefitter at Occidental Chemical Company from 1960 until retiring in 1997. Arthur was a member of the I.S.D.A. Volare Lodge 269 in Niagara Falls. He enjoyed going to O.T.B. and Club Joey's and was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees. His favorite pastimes included fishing, hunting, going to the casino and playing cards.

Arthur is survived by one daughter Christina (James) Moses of Niagara Falls, NY; three grandchildren Julie, James and Anthony Moses, his mother-in-law Evelyn Cichelli, two sisters-in-law Mary Lou (Frank) Paonessa and Joyce Moore as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother Richard (Phyllis of North Tonawanda, NY) Evarts, one sister Connie (Jerry of Florida) Booska and one niece Tammy Paonessa-Conway.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16th from 4 – 7 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 17th at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment with Military Honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Memorial donations may be made to a Veteran's Association of America, P.O. Box 309 Audubon Station New York, NY 10032 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
