Obituary

Audrey 'Stevie' Mae Eldridge, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on July 14, 2023. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late James and Minnie (Hind) Stephenson; and the beloved wife of the late Frank Eldridge, who she married on September 18, 1954.  Mr. Eldridge predeceased her on October 21, 2004.

Stevie, as she was known to her family and friends, was a 1949 graduate of LaSalle Senior High School, where she served as the class secretary.  She continued to stay involved by helping to organize the class reunions, most recently, her 65 year reunion.

Stevie was employed in the Credit Union of Occidental Chemical Corp, as well as the Niagara-Wheatfield School District prior to her retirement. In her earlier years, she worked for a brief period at the Niagara Gazette, making lifelong friends who continued to stay close, and would join together for 'poker club' often. She was a parishioner of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and a member of their Altar Guild for over 50 years. Stevie also dedicated her time to Meals on Wheels for numerous years.

Stevie centered her life around her beloved husband and children. She acted as classroom mother while her boys were in school and would never miss their band concerts, sporting events or boy scout activities. The Eldridge home was 'the place to be' for all the neighborhood kids. She will be greatly remembered for her quick wit and her smiley, happy demeanor.

Stevie's mother sadly predeceased her at a young age. She was primarily raised by her late brother, Leslie Stephenson. When Leslie was called to serve in World War II, Stevie lived with her late aunt and uncle, Fred and Helen Stephenson, whom she was so grateful for.

Mrs. Eldridge is survived by her children, Rick Eldridge and Eric (Tito Ibarrola) Eldridge; her grandson, Sean Eldridge; two great-grandchildren, Lilah and Eben and a beloved niece Beth Lowery, as well as several Godchildren and many dear friends. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Leslie (late Ruby) Stephenson, Budd (late Gwen) Stephenson, Virginia (late Jim) Bone, and her infant brother David Stephenson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 22 at 11:00 AM in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 616 Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery, North Tonawanda, NY.
