Obituary

August 'Auggie' Mastro, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Ralph and Mary (Daniels) Mastromatteo.

Auggie, as he was known to family and friends, attended local schools. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations from February 3, 1941 until his honorable discharge on February 29, 1945 and was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement in ground combat. He was employed by Sirianni Construction in Niagara Falls, NY and as the manager of T & O Bowling Lanes in Medina, NY; the supply coordinator at J.W. Danforth Heating and Cooling, a dispatcher for Taibi Brothers Concrete and a security guard at Great Lakes Carbon all in Niagara Falls, NY. In the late 1970's he moved to Palm Beach County, FL where he was employed as an operating engineer for the Palm Beach County Waste Authority. In 2005 Auggie moved back to Niagara Falls, NY where he lived until the present time. He was an avid bowler and participated in various area leagues. In his younger years, he also enjoyed playing baseball and fishing.

August was predeceased by two sisters Rose (late Al) Ozzimo and Ann (late Ralph) D'Archangelo and one brother Patsy (late Violet) Mastromatteo. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
