Obituary

Barbara A. (Austin) Pietrobono, 81, of Niagara Falls, N.Y., passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015 in Buffalo General Hospital surrounded by loved ones, following a brief illness. Known by all as a kind-hearted, selfless, and caring woman, she was her happiest spending time with family and friends.

Born in Alfred, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Roger and Clara (Hall) Austin. Barbara moved to Niagara Falls in 1940 with her family and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1952. She was employed by Niagara Wheatfield Central School District as a teacher's aid at Colonial Village Elementary until she retired in 1997. A long-time parishioner of St. Leo's Roman Catholic Church, Barbara also enjoyed gardening – especially her rose bush, watching NASCAR, and crafting with her close friends in "The Birthday Girls Club."

On September 11, 1954, Barbara married Angelo J. Pietrobono of Niagara Falls, N.Y. at St. Joseph's Church, and they spent 61 beautiful years together filled with love, laughter and her famous pizzelle cookies. For Angelo, it was love at first sight – love that could be telegraphed with just one look.

In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her four children, Angelo A. (Dawn) Pietrobono of Ransomville, N.Y.; Anita (Terry) Murray of Glendale, A.Z., John (Denise) Pietrobono of Reading, P.A., and Joseph Pietrobono of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by her three siblings Rodney, Nelson and James Austin.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22nd from 4 – 7:00 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 23rd at 10:00 A.M. in St. Vincent De Paul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. If desired, memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Parish at St. Leo's Church.
