Barbara M. (Marino) Salerno, 97, died on Wednesday November 11, 2009 at Fairchild Manor Nursing Home in Lewiston, NY. Born May 4, 1912 in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late James and Rosaria 'Rose' (Capicotto) Marino.

Barbara attended local schools. She married Michael B. Salerno and they lived in Holly, NY while working in Corning, NY before returning to the Niagara Falls area where she lived until the present time. Mr. Salerno predeceased her on June 25, 1965. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She worked at the former J.N. Adams and retired from the Como Restaurant after over thirty years as a waitress where she enjoyed her "Como family." After her retirement she especially enjoyed her trips to California to visit her son and "her family." A longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Barbara was also a member of their Seniors Club as well as the St. Francis Guild at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Barbara liked cooking, baking, knitting and crocheting; but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her brother and his family.

Mrs. Salerno is survived by her son James (Cindy) Salerno of Palos Verdes Est., CA; one grandson Christian M. Salerno and was predeceased by her brother Joseph E. (late Evelyn) Marino. She is also survived by her nephew Robert 'Bob' (Dolly) Salerno, her niece Arline Manzi, nephews Michael Marino, Joseph J. (Gloria) Marino and was especially loved by her great niece Mary Jo (Jeff) Stricker, nephew Gerry (Carol) Manzi, nieces Michelle (William) Suitor and Angela Marino. Barbara is also survived by several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Friends may call on Sunday from 3 – 7 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held on Monday November 16th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, OSFS officiating. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
