Barbara J. (Rotolo) Sawicki, 90 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on June 19, 2018 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital.  Born July 4, 1927 in Punxsutawney, PA she was the daughter of the late Sero and Famie (Furan) Rotolo.

Barbara moved to the Niagara Falls area as a child with her family.  She attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School.  On September 29, 1951 she married Kazmir L. 'Kaz' Sawicki at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.  Mr. Sawicki predeceased her on November 23, 2001. Barbara began her career in 1966 working for the Niagara Falls Schools District as the assistant to Geraldine J. Mann.  She went to work for the NIOGA Library System as a certified cataloger and bookkeeper in the Niagara Falls and Lockport offices until her retirement after twenty-eight years of service.  She was a member of the John Duke Travel Club and also enjoyed attending the lunch program and activities at the Duke Center.  In her leisure time she also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and playing cards with her friends. Above all, Barbara cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and attending their school events.

Mrs. Sawicki is survived by her two children, Dr. Richard (Anne Marie Moraca) Sawicki and Janet (Peter) Sawicki-Carey, two grandchildren, Peter (fiancé Aubrey Byerly) Carey and Melissa Carey, one brother Ronald (Rosalie) Rotolo as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was also predeceased by an infant sister Rosemary Rotolo.

Mrs. Sawicki's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of 1-West at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence for the loving and compassionate care Barbara received during her time there.

Visitation will be held Friday from 3 - 7 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 Military Rd. Niagara Falls, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday June 23 ^rd at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish at Our Lady of Mt.
